Natural Science Project: Looking After Yourself

To learn could be so funny with ours classes. In YagoSchool our children learn with different activities. We want they learn easyly healthy habits and we did a different class with them. They had a really good time. ¿Could you see their happy faces? If you want to know what we did with them, keep reading this post.

The students started by discussing and giving opinions on good or bad things about staying healthy.

They came up with the following ideas:

  • Eat fruit and vegetables.
  • Do exercise.
  • Don’t smoke, drink alcohol or consume drugs.

We then divided these ideas into 2 groups:

 

POSITIVE OR GOOD THINGS

  • Eat fruit/vegetables
  • Do exercise
  • Rest -sleep at least 8hrs per day

 

NEGATIVE OR BAD THINGS

  • Bad eating habits: fast food, pizzas, fatty foods, burgers, etc
  • Consume alcohol or drugs
  • Don’t be lazy – playing video games all day

The students then saw some ideas on internet for making a publicity poster so they could think of some ideas. Then they divided into smaller groups so they could work together and prepare a poster.

They had some ideas prepared to make their mini project and HEALTHY HABITS:

  • Eating good / eating bad food.
  • Benefits of drinking water.
  • Importance of doing sport/exercise.
  • Get enough rest/sleep.
  • Say NO to addictions – smoking, alcohol.

The idea was for the students to make a poster for the other students around the school in order to see what is correct or not correct and how to live a healthier life.

Finally, each student has to make their own individual poster, which we will be working on. They can choose the topic they want and can use their own drawings or designs, photos or magazine pictures.

It was also possible for a group to choose to make a video and interview some of their teachers and ask them about their habits. The students prepared their questions together and then recorded the results.
