The pupils of Secondary 3 performed a play of Macbeth by Shakespeare on the 19th of June at 12:15 in the Concert Hall.
Most of Shakespeare’s words were chosen to be spoken or heard, not to be read and deadened behind a desk. This is the reason why Ms. Tullis organised this play: to let the students know about Shakespeare while they were practising Oral English and Drama skills.
The main character is Macbeth; he is a brave soldier but also weak, greedy and ambitious. Another main character is Lady Macbeth, she is cunning, evil, manipulative and over-ambitious.
At the beginning of the play, Macbeth is a brave and loyal thane of king Duncan. After hearing a prophecy that he will become king himself, Macbeth is overcome by ambition and greed. Bolstered by prophecy and his wife’s encouragement, he kills king Duncan and takes the throne.
Everybody enjoyed the play! Congratulations!!
