Musical assembly in Yago School
This month, in our musical Assembly, we were able to hear some of the most iconic Spanish piano repertoire with a performance by Alejandro Martínez Pozo.
The piano pieces of Enrique Granados are romantic in their style, and on Friday, we were able to hear some of the more well-known themes of this great Spanish composer.
Alejandro Martínez is a well-known pianist who has played in many of Europe’s most prestigious venues. He is currently working as a professor of piano in the Professional Conservatoire of Caceres.
He delighted us with his mastery of the instrument and his sensitive rendering of this repertoire.
Later, he was joined by John Durant and together they played the Sonatina for Clarinet and Piano by Joseph Horovitz. This was a completely different work that takes its inspiration from jazz and it includes all the elements of jazz history from the blues to the more modern bebop style.
It was an excellent exhibition!
