On Saturday, March 18th, a group of Primary 6 and Secondary 2 pupils participated for the first time in the 21st THALES Maths Olympiad held at the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Seville.
This year there were 72 groups, representing 20 different schools in Seville. One of our groups got an excellent 15th position.
At 10:00 in the morning the presentation of the event took place, where they introduced all the participating groups and explained to the pupils each of the tests that they had to carry out. Then they went to the study room from where the gymkana began, which consisted of a tour of the university gardens where they had to go through deciphering enigmas and challenges.
Our students participated in groups with names that referred to mathematical concepts such as “the potentials” or “the cubic root”. They all did extremely well and managed to finish all the tests in record time.
At 14:00 the award ceremony took place in the Aula Magna of the Faculty where, once again, our school showed respect towards and joy for the winners. It was certainly a unique experience in which, besides getting to know the interior of the faculty and of putting ourselves to the test with other schools, we learned and we enjoyed ourselves very much.
Congratulations to all of you for your participation!
