Last Friday, on 30th November the students of Yago School joined in with an initiative organised by Voluntariado Express in order to shelter PEOPLE WITHOUT HOMES.
Joined by some of their teachers, 25 students from Secondary took to the streets of Seville to share a little chat and company with these people who, for different reasons, are condemned to live on the streets.
This initiative emerged in February 2012 following a cold wave that swept Spain with the aim of countering the consumerism that is promoted by Black Friday. It has been repeated every year, with an increasing number of cities joining in. It is about raising funds in a single day, going to buy warm items in the afternoon and then distributing them at night to the Homeless (“PSH”).
Education about social action plays a leading role at Yago School and in this sense, our Yago Foundation is the leader of the broad and ambitious volunteer programme followed by our Secondary students. It trains them in traditional values such as solidarity, sensitivity and commitment to those who endure difficult circumstances.
The students who participated have reported that it was an unforgettable experience and that they have been moved by a desire to organise this type of campaign more often.
Once again, we thank so much your collaboration and generosity.
