Coming from a deep-rooted English tradition in educational institutions, the idea of organising pupils into Houses brings many benefits to the children such as the feeling of belonging to a group and it facilitates the transversal contact between children of different ages. Yago School is aware of the innumerable benefits of this system and from its beginnings it organizes the ceremony of house assignment for new students and staff members at the beginning of each school year.
Ms. Thompson, our Head of Foreign Languages, serves as teacher of the “Magic Hat” ceremony that randomly decides which house the new families belong to. Helped by the Captains and Vicecaptains of each “House” they handed the pin that will identify them as members of Sussex, Stradbrook or Larchhill.
From today, all students will strive to achieve collective or individual merits through the Housepoints that are awarded in recognition of overcoming academic challenges or to reward special efforts or attitudes.
Long live team spirit!
