Yesterday, on December 17th, Yago School choir directed by Mr. John Durant had the privilege of participating in the traditional Christmas Carol Concert presented by the Maestranza accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra from the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville, conducted by Vladimir Dmitrienco.
The theatre, was sold out, when its walls vibrated to the sounds of different versions of traditional carols adapted for classical strings. The pure voices of the young choir composed of 56 students from Primary 2 to Secondary 3 delighted all present.
The students, accompanied by the brilliant musicians of the Chamber orchestra of the ROSS, sang 16 popular Christmas carols like Arre Borriquita, The Shepherds to Bethlehem, Bell over Bell, Night of Peace, White Christmas, Fish in the River, La Marimorena or Carry the Light by Twila Paris with force, naturalness, musicality and spontaneity.
Little Lucia Hayward thrilled everyone with her beautiful and sweet interpretation of “A la nanita nana”.
In the same way, María Sánchez García-Muñiz moved those present with her interpretation of the carol “Yo sí creo en ti” by the musician and composer Rafael Almarcha.
The audience, who participated by singing some of the songs, burst into applause after each piece sung by the children.
In short, it was a magnificent show full of light, color, music and lots of emotion that was just the start of a week full of activities related to Christmas.
